Hello Everyone,
Just wanted to share my experience at the ASD/AMD Trade Show this weekend. This is my second one so I was much more relaxed and confident talking to the suppliers. Be sure to have lots and lots of business cards because they will ask you for them. I usually ask for a business card and a catalog. I also ask what is the minimum purchase requirement and do they sell samples. Usually they'll sell samples on the last day of the trade show because they don't want to ship all that stuff back home. Some do and some don't sell samples. Take lots of cash on the last day because that's the day they sell samples (usually at a hefty discount) and carry a large bag (for all those product catalogs) or rollerbag because you will run out of arms to carry products. They say they prohibit them, but on the last day, everyone has them. They almost always ask what kind of store I have. I simply tell them that I'm an online retailer and that I'm looking to expand my product line, as Sydney suggested. If they press me I'll say I sell children's items, but I'm looking at other products too. Have your tax id with you also, and comfortable walking shoes. I always turn the card over and write what it is that attracted me to their table because (don't rely on your memory) they may have lots of products (& no more catalogs); then I can go home and check out their website if they have one. When I get home, I seperate the catalogs into two piles, those I want to research further and those that can wait. I immediately go to Terapeak and check out the demand of the ones that look promising. That's it. Scarlett |
