View Full Version : Finding Wholesale Lists

I'm just a bit confused about something. In the book we are supposed to read, "Product Sourcing Scams Revealed," it says at the bottom of page 5; The vast majority of REAL Drop Shippers and Wholesalers are NOT FOUND in the search engines!
My confusion is that I thought we are to use the search engines with the yellow pages to find these Wholesalers.
Did I misunderstand something or are the yellow pages not considered search engines?
Any help would be appreciated,
Alan

The yellow pages and search engines really aren't the same. Companies have been using the yellow pages for decades. Many suppliers aren't interested in the SEs, because as Chris says, their customers aren't the general public, at least in their own minds. That is changing, due to eBay and the vastness of the Net, but right now many great suppliers only advertise in publications like industry trade magazines, etc.
Here are two things to keep in mind:
1. We went over the yellow pages idea simply to introduce you to liquidation/closeout/etc on a local level. This is because it is the safest way to deal with these kinds of suppliers. Since I am personally uncomfortable with the risk of 'distance' suppliers, I have very little personal experience to draw on. Nevertheless, I consider it my job to let you know about this important part of the supply industry.
2. There are TONS more places and sources coming in the next two weeks, sources that I am personally familiar and comfortable with and can comment on based on my experiences. With such a limited number of sources for the first week, you don't need to take the Flood too, too seriously. Starting this Saturday, though, it should be your #1 auction priority.

Hey Alan,
Can't take too long with this post as I'm off to hit my goal of 50 product information requests from suppliers tonight.
I'm absolutely positive there is someone in the class that understands this process better than myself but here's what I've done to get started.
1.) Go to www.yellowpages.com
2.)Type in gifts (with the business catagories activated)
3.) Leave zip cose blank and select "ALL USA" for the state
4.) Click GO
5.) Once your on the next screen click on Giftware's-Wholesale & Manufacturers (2774)
6.)This is where I found my potential suppliers. Some have email addresses most don't.
Hope this helps Alan.
I encourage you or anybody from this group to instant message me at either markmcc411@aol.com or mark41157@hotmail.com
Like Alan any advanced help or details to cut some time (places with lots of supplier email addresses for when I run out of money) is appreciated here.
After working all day I've got to use the KISS method for right now though.
Mark
