I am having a header professionally done for a site, and the designer needs to know what size to make it.

This is my first time to have this done, and I have no idea what size it should be.

If anyone has any suggestions for header dimensions please let me know.

Mark

In general the width is 700 to 800 pixels width and 100 to 150 pixel in height depending on what you are trying to accomplish with the header.

Thanks Jeremy.

I just need a nice header for a Tier C site. Are the general dimensions above good for that? I'm not sure how to apply "depending on what you are trying to accomplish with the header."

Yeah those should work for a tier C site. Well on our asthma site we have some navigation links on the header that use a technology call image mapping. This means that header needed to be a little taller to allow room for the links and hence why you may want to make it 100 to 200 (even) depending on your navigation. There isn't a "right" number.
